Brief History Of The Building
The Building is an early 19th century thatched house - in about 1846 a room was added to provide for a public bar here you will find a living working treasure of the crafts of a bygone age. Floors of the bar and kitchen are finished with old hand cut stone flags, similar slabs are used in the courtyard and around the building. In October 1980 the Seanachai became Irelandís pub of the year, the judges highlighting the great Irish atmosphere and the traditional furnishings and fittings. It was also awarded 1996 Heritage Pub of the year.
Today the Seanachí has been restored to its former glory by Johnnie and Margaret Hurley. Breathtaking charm and outstanding countryside surround you at the Seanachai - Golfing, Fishing, Sailing, Walking are all on your doorstep with Dungarvan only five minutes drive and Cork and Waterford 40 minutes drive on the N25. The beauty of Helvic head and Ring are but minutes away from The Seanachaií. Ardmore beach and Old Parish are 15 minutes away.
